Julie Sandler (she/her) is a New York-based filmmaker and actor. She is originally from Rochester, NY and has been fascinated with storytelling since she was a young child.

She currently works as an Impact Producer on several documentaries, such as Cured, an Emmy-nominated film that premiered on PBS in 2021; Holding Moses, an Oscar Shortlisted film; Anxiety Club, Outcry: Alchemists of Rage and others. Julie is also the Associate Producer for This is This: The Incredible Journey of Weather Report, a documentary that tells the story of the jazz fusion band, Weather Report; and the NYC-based Production Coordinator for Joe Zawinul’s Music Odyssey, a concert film chronicling the rehearsal process and performance of a selection of Joe Zawinul’s musical work.

Julie’s acting work originates from her childhood. Recent acting credits include “Imogen” in The Shakespeare Crossdresser’s Support Group (American Theatre of Actors), “Lizara” in Operation: Destroy Beff Jezos (Studio 45), “Me” in A Short Play In Which I Use Fourty-Four Scenes to Get Absolutely Nowhere (The Tank) and “Nancy” in a staged reading of Body Mutilations.

Julie is a Vassar College graduate and a recipient of the David C. Magid Memorial Prize in Cinematography, which she received for her achievements in cinematography and film studies at Vassar.
